Pumpkin Doggie Treats October 11, 2018 00:44

It’s finally starting to feel like fall, which means it’s time for pumpkin everything! And why should our pets be left out? They should get to enjoy this season too, so we scoured the internet to find you the perfect fall cookie recipe for your pet! The recipe we found is pumpkin filled, and grain-free, so it is easy on your dogs tummy. It is also packed with healthy anti-inflammatory ingredients like turmeric for our pets with troubled joints! See the ingredients and instructions below!

        • (1) 15 ounce can pumpkin puree
        • 1/2 cup peanut butter
        • 1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
        • 4 organic eggs
        • 1 teaspoon turmeric
        • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
        • 1 1/2 cups coconut flour, plus additional for rolling
        1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
        2. In a large bowl, whisk together the pumpkin, peanut butter, coconut oil, and eggs until smooth.
        3. Add in the turmeric, cinnamon, and coconut flour. Mix until well combined. Let rest for about five minutes to thicken.
        4. Dump the dough out onto a surface well-coated in coconut flour. Sprinkle top liberally with more coconut flour, and then roll until about 1/4” thick. Cut using cooking cutters, and place on the prepared baking sheet. Combine the dough scraps and re-roll until all dough is gone.
        5. Bake in preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the cookies are dry and hard. Let cool completely.
        6. Store in an airtight container for up to a month.

Purrrfect Cat Treats! October 26, 2015 16:43

Yummy homemade treats for cats are healthy and a crowd pleaser!

See how to make your own cat treats after the jump . . .

Crunchy Tuna Cat Treats

Makes about 3 dozen treats

  • 1 (5 ounce) can tuna, no salt added and packed in water, drained
  • 1 cup oat flour*
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 heaping tablespoon dried catnip

*It’s easy to make your own oat flour. Simply grind old-fashioned oats in a spice grinder (or a super clean coffee grinder) until it is transformed into a light powder. There you have it — oat flour!

  1. Place a rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In the bowl of a food processor fitted with a blade attachment, combine drained tuna, oat flour, egg, olive oil and catnip. Blend until mixture is smooth. It will be thick but pliable and not terribly sticky.
  3. Roll dough into 1/2 teaspoon balls and place on prepared cookie sheet. Use a skewer to press an X-shape into each cookie ball.
  4. Bake cookies for 10 to 12 minutes until they are dried on top and slightly browned. Allow to cool completely before offering to your kitty.
  5. Place treats in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to seven days.
