Halloween Safety Tips For Your Furry Friend

Hello my awesome friends!

I really wasn't sure what to blog about then I remembered it is Halloween season, so why not write a Do's and Don'ts for our furry friends.  So, here are some safety tips for you.

As Halloween can be fun for our families, it may not be for our furry friends.

Our pets may get startled by trick-or-treaters, since they may be yelling for their candy, and dressed in costumes.  This may scare our furry friends.  As you may know, dogs can be territorial and may become anxious and growl at innocent kids.

I believe it's best to keep them inside, away from the door, and secure them, since you will be opening and closing the door frequently.  This will prevent them from running off into the street avoiding an unnecessary accident.  Gee, no one wants to go searching for their furry friend on a night like this.

Remember that candy is not for pets.  Halloween candies containing the artificial sweetener, Xylitol can be poisonous to them.  It causes sudden drop in blood sugar, loss of coordination, and seizures.  Remind your precious kids not to feed your pets any type of candy.  It's better to be safe than sorry.

Keep in mind that having lit pumpkins around pets may not be a good idea either.  If they get too close, they may get burned and knock the pumpkin over causing a fire, and this would be horrible.

If you are planning to dress your furry friend, be sure to try it on them before Halloween night to make sure he or she is not irritated, is able to move, not allergic or show any signs of abnormal behavior.  You want them to enjoy themselves as much as the rest of the family.

We sell festive bandanas and neck ties.  They are perfect for any holiday season or occasion.  Be sure to check them out on our website!

Well, I hope this has helped you a bit.  Wishing you all a happy and safe Halloween!  BOO!! :)
